Climb with Pride is a Climb Iowa event designed to extend the experience of climbing to our phenomenal Des Moines community!

With that purpose in mind, we are hosting this event during Capitol City Pride week in the East Village. Sign up or stop in for a free one-hour climbing session and experience the welcoming community and thrills of climbing. An orientation and rental shoes are included.

We are pairing this event with the Pride Silent Disco, which is taking place in our shared parking lot with Peace Tree. Come experience the growing sport and our incredible climbing community for an hour of free climbing and follow it up by participating in the amazing Silent Disco! Our event runs from 7pm-11pm, with the hour long sessions starting at the top of the hour.

What is bouldering?

Bouldering is a type of climbing on walls up to 14ft where no rope or harness is needed. Walls are tall enough to be engaging but not intimidating. Climbers just use a pair of climbing shoes, bouldering pads, and maybe a bag of chalk. The goal is to climb short “problems” (a route/sequence of moves), using a combination of technique, skill, strength, and problem solving skills.

You can see some great examples of bouldering on our Instagram, linked here.

Who can climb?

Anyone can climb. We cater to people of all ability levels and since we are in Central Iowa, we see quite a few brand-new climbers.

Please remember, everyone entering the facility must complete an up-to-date Climb Iowa Visitors Agreement. If you are under the age of 18, the Visitors Agreement must be filled out by a parent or legal guardian appointed by the courts. NO EXCEPTIONS

What should I bring?

We suggest loose fitting clothing that allows you freedom of movement, something you would wear to workout.

Pride Silent Disco?

“Rather than using a loudspeaker system, music is broadcast to participants wearing wireless headphones with radio transmitters. Those without headphones hear no music, giving the effect of a street full of people dancing to nothing.”

The Silent Disco will be taking place in our parking lot, so participants for both events will find parking close by.

What if I want to take a break from the Silent Disco, come climb, then go back to the Silent Disco?

We will have space to store your headphones during your climbing session.
